What is Triad Pride Performing Arts?
Formed in 1999 as the Triad Pride Men’s Chorus, our organization had always desired to expand beyond just TPMC, so in 2016 we put into motion a plan to create the Triad Pride Women’s Chorus which began its first rehearsals in January 2017. We thus changed the name of the 501c3 to TPPA as of July 1st 2017 to coincide with our next fiscal year to reflect that we had multiple groups and we just added our 3rd group the Triad Pride Acting Company July 1 2018.
What is the mission of TPPA?
Triad Pride Performing Arts consists of LGBTQ and their allies, who perform to entertain, enlighten, and enrich while promoting equality and social justice for all people regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity–fostering pride, understanding, and acceptance.

What is your Non-discrimination policy
Triad Pride Performing Arts has from day one maintained in its core mission that it promotes equality and social justice for all people regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. TPPA does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations.
Who are the members of the organization?
Members of the organization are representative from the Piedmont Triad Area. Members range in age, race, gender-identity, sexuality, profession, background, and outside interests. Both performing and associate members share a common vision – social justice for all people regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity
Are the members gay?
We attract many individuals from the LGBTQ community, but membership is open to all persons regardless of race, creed, ability, age, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
How big are the Choruses?
There are on average 20 singing members in the Triad Pride Men’s Chorus and on average 30 in Triad Pride Women’s Chorus.
Is there a minimum age to join or volunteer?
Yes, you must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
Do you take donations?
We are a 501(c)3 non-profit arts organization and welcome any amount of donation. We rely heavily on donation from our community to support our programming, as well as many employers match employers donations, so check with your HR about matching programs. Will the Choruses sing for me or my organization?
The chorus is open to invitations to sing for audiences around the triad. As a volunteer chorus our available performance time is limited and our calendar fills up quickly each year. To inquire about bookings, please visit this page.
Do I have to sing to join the Choruses?
No, Non-singing volunteers are members of the 5th Section who assist the organization in a wide range of activities including performance and administrative support.
How do I join as a singing member?
Vocal Placements are held two months each year. more information can be found here.
Do I have to read music to be a singing member?
Singing members do not have to read music to join the Chorus. The Chorus asks that all members have a commitment to the mission of the organization and the desire to perform.
Are the performers professional?
All of the performers in the groups are volunteers and receive no compensation for their participation. The members come from all professions and walks of life. click here for more about joing a chorus
It is estimated that singing members combined donate more than 5,000 volunteer hours per year.
