Triad Pride Acting Company is proud to present the Tony Award-winning musical to kick off the 25th season of TPPA “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”, opening Aug. 18, 2023. 

The heartfelt musical comedy celebrates the triumphs and tragedies of adolescence as a group of six ragtag pre-teens (all played by adults) compete in a spelling bee. Pandemonium ensues as they vie for the top spot and spell their way to nationals. The high-stakes competition puts each contestant at the mic and in the spotlight as we learn about their hilarious and touching stories.

The musical features six young people in the throes of puberty, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves. They learn that winning isn’t everything and losing doesn’t necessarily make one a loser,

Performances of  “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” will run in Greensboro on Aug 18th, 19th, 25th, & 26th, 2023 at 8:00 pm and Aug 20th & 27th at 2:00 pm at Congregational United Church of Christ located at 400 W Radiance Drive, Greensboro, NC 27403. Triad Pride Acting Company performs productions written or composed by or about members of the LGBTQ+ community. The troupe presents four staged shows each year and holds regular auditions for cast members. Triad Pride Acting Company is part of Triad Pride Performing Arts. Founded in 1998 as the Triad Pride Men’s Chorus, Triad Pride Performing Arts consists of LGBTQ and their allies, who perform to entertain, enlighten, and enrich while promoting equality and social justice for all people regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity–fostering pride, understanding, and acceptance. The organization oversees and manages the activities of the Triad Pride Men’s and Women’s Choruses, the Triad Pride Acting Company, and Counterpoint, a small vocal ensemble.
